It certainly is exciting to see ten of my books sitting on a shelf at Hastings in Bullhead City, Arizona! The people there are so helpful and kind. I highly recommend that you go in and check it out.
The signing will be Saturday, February 1, 2014. We are even having a drawing for a free book. No obligation and you don't even have to be present to win!
Well, I am anxiously awaiting this fun event and will have my friend, Chris, with me. Hope that all my Arizona friends can make it! See you there!

"Timesnatching isn't exactly rocket science," said the commander. Jack looked up and frowned. "It is where I come from." Available at Amazon.com
I started writing "Timesnatched" in 2011. The youngest of my eight children had just gotten married, and I wondered to myself, "Okay, what's next?" I knew I wanted to start a new book, this time a trilogy and wondered what was selling. It didn't take long to discover that time travel was more popular than ever. But, that genre could be complicated. I mean, getting time continuums all tangled up could be a daunting problem if I wasn't smart about it. But, that was just the point! Why not create a story where time continuums/time trails get so hopelessly intertwined that it creates a story not only entertaining but even a bit mind-boggling? As for the characters, I would create my protagonist and call him after my dad, Jack. That was a no-brainer. Jack can handle anything. And, if he gets in over his head, he will just have to deal with the consequences. This happens a few times.
I wish I had a picture of Jack--he's 17 years old, has steel-gray eyes, dark hair, athletic build (he plays high school football) and is the "jock" type only minus that snobby personality. Oh, I know those kinds of guys--they would hang out at my high school's trophy case in the main lobby and check out all the girls as they walked by. No, Jack is the type to have better things to do. He's always busy. And, he's kind. And, he's a farm boy, so not much time for girls, even though he likes them. I guess he's a bit shy, too.
No, the picture on the front cover is not Jack. It's someone else. And, yes, you have to read the book to find out who it is. Go ahead--read it. And, there are some other cool characters--The book starts out introducing Nicolas Wycliffe. I'll tell you about Nicolas, only not today. Maybe tomorrow. (B.D.Boyle)

FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE Barbara Boyle, Author
Native of Boise writes teen time-travel book
Boise, Idaho—
B.D. Boyle who spent
her childhood and young adult years in Boise has written the first in a trilogy
called “Timesnatched.” The book is available at Amazon.com.
“Searching for fast-paced adventure stories
with uplifting plots and wholesome characters left me frustrated and ready to try
my hand at it. That’s how “Timesnatched” came to be.” Writing clean, teen fiction has become a passion
for Barbara Dillree Boyle, a 1968 graduate of Borah High School. Boyle traveled
all over the world for twenty years with her husband in the U.S. Air Force.
“Raising eight children in four different countries was a fast-paced adventure
in and of itself,” said Boyle. “I love teenagers and have read a lot of the
popular Young Adult series.” Boyle and her husband now divide their time between Idaho and Arizona.
The
book: Three teens are flung twenty years into the future where time coins and
bohrium bracelets can mean the difference between life and death. Thrown
together in a dystopian New York City, an American farm boy, English school
girl and teen scientist will have to quickly unite and join the Coalition of
Liberty. The girl’s quiet life along Wigan’s Pier is behind her and she is now
faced with trusting the daring young American and the geek kid who can almost
invent something from nothing. The boys will either save them all from this
strange turn of events or they’ll plunge them even deeper into a frightening
world of oppressive dictators, rebel forces and teenagers who are kidnapped for
their future talents.

Launch of "Timesnatched"
I just announced today on Facebook that
my book, "Timesnatched: Pole Star " is available on Amazon.com. I'm
pretty sure some of my old acquaintances are scratching their gray heads
and wondering why Barbara Boyle thinks she can write a book. A fair
question. I've wondered that myself at times, especially when I review a
paragraph in a draft and hit the delete button as fast as I can. It's
the same feeling you get the day after you teach a class or attend a
party--"Oh, horrors! Did I really say that?" Only, there is no delete button under those circumstances.
Putting your written word out to the public is no different than showing up for an "American Idol" audition. You set yourself up for ridicule. And, when it comes, you have to have decided in advance how you're going to react. At my age, I can always blame senility.' My grandkids will just shake their heads and mumble, "Oh, Grandma."
And, as I thought about taking this step, I pondered over my life up to this point: I've really had an amazing trip with few regrets. The Lord blessed me with a sense of adventure, so when my U.S. Air Force officer husband offered to show me the world at Uncle Sam's expense, I put my hand in his and said, "Lead the way." Then, the babies came--all eight of them. And, I marvel when I think that even in motherhood, I have experienced just about everything--four boys, four girls, one adopted child, twins, rebellious teenagers, drummers, singers, actors, honor students, wrestlers, beauty queens, and lots of in-betweens. We travelled from the beaches of Okinawa to the heights of Pike's Peak; from the deserts of Idaho to the summits of the Swiss Alps; from the Norwegian fjords to the Eiffel Tower. Yes, it has been an amazing trip.
So, when I think about this next big adventure, I say, "Why not?" What's the worse thing that can happen? Ridicule? Maybe. A little sneering and jeering? Probably. But, if the few stories I share bring even the hint of a smile to anyone, it will be worth everything I ever put into it. At this moment, I add this experience to my list of "Things Tried/Attempted/Failed/Succeeded." A year from now, maybe I'll know which box to check.
